Pathology Tests Explained (PTEx) is a not-for-profit group managed by a consortium of medical and scientific organisations.
Our aim is to provide you with information about pathology testing that you can rely on as being accurate and authoritative. Importantly, we go to great effort to maintain our independence. Our funding comes from a range of professional organisations and government sources, and we do not accept or post any advertising. In this way we are able to provide evidence-based information that is free from commercial interest.
Who writes the information?
Information on Pathology Tests Explained is produced in collaboration with practising pathologists and scientists including some of Australian's foremost authorities who work in public and private pathology laboratories or hold appointments with professional societies. All scientific information is reviewed by our Editor-in-Chief. Some of the laboratories for whom our contributors work are commercial entities, but our editing process is transparent, their business interests are known, and we ensure they have no influence on the information being provided and that there are no conflicts of interest.
